JOMO(campus) is a first-of-its-kind digital wellness program.

We work alongside you to measurably improve social connectedness and academic focus for your students, building a digital well-being culture on campus.

- Laurie Fritsch, MSEd,
Director of Wellness, Virginia Tech

“Digital well-being must be at the forefront of our work with students. Partnering with JOMO helped us fast forward this priority by five years.”

Take FOMO and flip it on its head. That’s JOMO - the Joy of Missing Out.

JOMO(campus) uses compelling and creative content to promote sustainable, digital well-being practices for students and faculty.  Through our digital wellness programs, we guide students to find the joy in missing out on mindless and distracting social media and video consumption, so they can make space for friendships, campus activities and exploration and of course academics.  By re-defining their relationships with technology, JOMO(campus) can help improve students’ mental health, productivity, campus engagement, academic performance and ultimately their success in the real world.

Our mission is to help schools create a flourishing campus culture where students are happier, healthier, and more focused -- empowering them to make the impact they were born to make.

The Problem We Face

IIn 2023, the US Surgeon General warned of two major crises facing our country – loneliness and youth mental health – naming social media as a prime culprit for both.  And on January 24, 2024, New York was the first state to designate social media as a public health hazard due to its effect on youth mental health.

While policymakers and technology companies are under pressure to better support parents, schools are also realizing the dire need to promote students’ digital well-being – especially amongst freshmen in college.

During our JOMO(campus) launch at Virginia Tech University, 75% of students reported having problems with procrastination, and nearly 70% claimed this caused them moderate to high distress.

So, how can schools find compelling and effective ways to truly connect with students on the topic of digital well-being and ultimately improve academic performance, campus engagement as well as retention and graduation rates?

How we can help

JOMO(campus) partners with you to design and implement a comprehensive digital wellness program for your students. This significant problem requires a detailed and integrated solution and a collaborative approach. We create campaigns, education, activations and products to prioritize student well-being and academic success. We have preferred partnerships with different tools and products that help support your students to greater well-being and academic performance.

Our work is broken into 3 distinct phases as we develop a partnership with you, and begin designing how to bring about change.

Discovery + Kick-Off

We envision the future together -- understanding your current digital well-being metrics, and the challenges your students and faculty report. This is a robust surveying and envisioning process we’ll guide and execute alongside your team.

Digital Well-Being Challenge

To kick-start JOMO(campus), we start with a 4-Week Challenge Campaign. This is a pilot phase to test our assumptions, gather data as well as secure wider stakeholder support for JOMO(campus).

Programming

We now have the foundation to design and implement an ongoing JOMO(campus) program for your school. Our approach is multi-audience and multi-stakeholder. And our hope is that your success with JOMO(campus) will not only benefit current students, but help recruit new students and staff and elevate your institution’s reputation for being a leader in digital wellness.
