Lead with Joy in the Digital Age: A Whole-School Digital Wellness Program

We work alongside you to measurably improve social connectedness and academic focus for your students, building a digital well-being culture on campus.

- Laurie Fritsch, MSEd,
Director of Wellness

“Digital well-being must be at the forefront of our work with students. Partnering with JOMO helped us fast forward this priority by five years.”

As a strategic partner, the Society of Christian Schools in British Columbia (SCSBC) has been instrumental in helping JOMO(campus) create meaningful digital wellness initiatives that align with faith-based values and educational goals.

Take FOMO and flip it on its head. That’s JOMO - the Joy of Missing Out.

At JOMO(campus), we believe digital wellness isn’t just a curriculum—it’s a culture. One rooted in joy, human connection, and intentional living. We equip schools to lead with clarity, care, and courage—helping every member of your community ask:
“Who am I becoming in the digital age?”

Our mission is to help school communities create a flourishing campus culture where students are happier, healthier, and more focused -- empowering them to make the impact they were born to make.

The Problem We Face

IIn 2023, the US Surgeon General warned of two major crises facing our country – loneliness and youth mental health – naming social media as a prime culprit for both.  And on January 24, 2024, New York was the first state to designate social media as a public health hazard due to its effect on youth mental health.

While policymakers and technology companies are under pressure to better support parents, schools are also realizing the dire need to promote students’ digital well-being – especially amongst freshmen in college.

During our JOMO(campus) launch at Virginia Tech University, 75% of students reported having problems with procrastination, and nearly 70% claimed this caused them moderate to high distress.

So, how can schools find compelling and effective ways to truly connect with students on the topic of digital well-being and ultimately improve academic performance, campus engagement as well as retention and graduation rates?

At JOMO, we believe that joy is found not in constant connection but in intentional disconnection from what drains us and in reconnecting with what truly matters. Our vision is to empower people, especially students, to experience the Joy of Missing Out on life's digital distractions—stepping back from toxic comparison, digital drain, and loneliness to make room for a life filled with abundance, freedom, and true connection.

The Joy of Missing Out is more than a brand; it's a social movement and a guiding philosophy that infuses every aspect of what we do—from campus programs to online products and in-person workshops. We aim to equip a generation with the tools to prioritize real relationships, meaningful experiences, and personal growth over the demands of a relentless digital world.

Our Vision

Our Mission

Digital well-being for every student.

Our mission is to make digital well-being accessible for every student, fostering resilience and the skills to thrive in a world where digital pressures are ever-present. By teaching digital self-awareness and cultivating joy, we’re committed to supporting students in navigating technology’s challenges with confidence and intentionality.

Our Values

  • With the value of abundance, we are answering the question: How can I stop comparing online and trust that I am enough?

  • With the value of community, we are answering the question: How do I shift from passively consuming online to actively connecting with loved ones in real life?

  • With the value of embodiment, we are answering the question: How do I break free from digital distractions to fully experience the richness of life offline?

  • With the value of freedom, we are answering the question: How do I build the digital self-discipline to see things through?

  • With the value of integrity, we are answering the question: How do I stay on track — doing the things I say I want to do — without getting hijacked online?

  • With this value, we answer the question: How do I make space for rest and play?

  • With the value of joy, we are answering: How do I succeed in life without burning out?
