HELPING FAMILIES THRIVE IN THE DIGITAL AGE

Joy, joy. Welcome to the Family Resource Hub at JOMO(campus).

As parents, we all want the best for our children—a life filled with joy, connection, and balance. Joy is what we all want, but in today’s fast-paced digital world, technology can prevent us from experiencing those life-giving moments.

This space will equip you with practical tools, thoughtful insights, and supportive resources to help your family thrive in the digital age. Here, you’ll find ways to foster meaningful relationships, encourage mindful tech use, and embrace the joy of missing out—creating a home where wellness and digital flourishing coexist. Let’s navigate this journey together!

What is JOMO
and Digital Wellness?

JOMO is the Joy Of Missing Out on life-taking things like social comparison, mindless scrolling, and digitally-driven distraction to make space for what matters most to you and your family.

Digital Wellness is the mindful management of technology to help us be more present to the joys around us. Digital wellness leads us to use devices in ways that support our mental health and overall well-being.

What is JOMO to our youth?
“Creating time for the things that I love to do.”
“Seeing friends in person.”
“Finding joy in the moments right now.”

Why participate in the
Digital Well-Being Challenge with your kids?

Did you know that just having your phone nearby diminishes the perceived quality of connection between the people around you?

The JOMO Challenge will guide you and your family through four weeks of learning to align your digital habits with your goals while having meaningful conversations.

It is a great opportunity to explore these important questions:
what do we value, what/who is dear to us, and how do we want to prioritize our time during these years together?

Family Stories

The Locks

  • As parents we are dealing with things that our parents didn’t have to deal with

  • Our aim is to start giving our kids the practice on social media when they demonstrate the appropriate level of maturity, so they can build up the muscle themselves

  • The important thing for us is that it’s an open conversation

The Stapletons

  • We want our kids to be well-adjusted adults that can have meaningful conversations with others and be happy

  • Technology can be stimulating and inspiring, it’s the escapism of technology that is concerning

  • Communication and flexibility as needed has been key for us

The Lims

  • When I found out about the screen time report on my phone, I was shocked at how much time a day I spent looking at my phone.

  • The biggest challenge in raising kids around technology is not knowing what’s best.

  • “Every time you are on your phone, afterwards you are thinking about what you were doing on your phone…and it’s harder to socialize.”

The Glanvilles

  • Raising kids in an age of technology when we didn’t have technology as teenagers is challenging.

  • How much direction do we offer and how much freedom do we give

  • We want creativity and imagination to be a part of our lives, instead of being consumed by screens.
